Another outstanding conference is in the works!
The Historical Novel Society's third North American conference will
be held at the Hyatt Regency
Woodfield in
Schaumburg, Illinois. Running from the evening of Friday, June 12,
2009, through the morning of Sunday, June 14, this
weekend-long
conference will feature workshops, panels and keynote addresses on
various aspects of fiction set in the past, and will present authors,
readers, industry professionals and other historical fiction enthusiasts
with a unique opportunity to celebrate the genre.
Our author guests of honor are
Margaret George,
bestselling author of biographical novels including The Autobiography
of Henry VIII, Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles, The
Memoirs of Cleopatra, and most recently Helen of Troy, and
Sharon Kay Penman,
bestselling author of seven critically acclaimed historical novels as
well as four medieval mysteries.

Registration fees include entrance to all
daytime panels and workshops, the Friday night dinner (with Margaret
George as featured speaker), Saturday buffet lunch (with
Trish Todd of Touchstone Fireside/Simon & Schuster as keynote),
Saturday dinner (with Sharon Kay Penman as featured speaker), and
Saturday and Sunday continental breakfasts. Pre-registration is
required; we cannot take payments on site. Following Saturday's dinner will be a historical costume
fashion show.
All of our attendees are welcome to participate!
The conference is limited to the first 300 registrants. As of
June 1st, registration is closed.
