The Historical Novel
Society's first North American conference presents authors, readers, and
other historical fiction enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to
celebrate the genre. Running from the evening of Friday, April 15, 2005,
through the morning of Sunday, April 17, the conference will offer a
lively combination of keynote addresses, panels, workshops, readings,
and book-signings.
Participants can build their knowledge
on topics such as research techniques and how to shape a historical
mystery, as well as mingle with people from across the continent who
share their passion for history and fiction. On the morning of
Friday, April 15th, we are also offering optional excursions to local
research libraries and museums.
WHY ATTEND THIS
CONFERENCE?
Since its beginnings, the Historical
Novel Society has provided a community for people who love novels set in
time periods outside their own. As a reader, the first North
American conference will allow you to meet others who share your
enthusiasm for historical fiction, including some of your favorite
authors. As a writer, it will create opportunities for you to read
and discuss your work with others, including professionals in the field.
And as a published author, it will give you a chance to read and display
your work and attend book-signings.
