HOTEL and DIRECTIONS

    The conference will take place at the University Park Marriott Hotel. Located at the foothills of the
    Wasatch Mountains, overlooking Salt Lake City, the University Park Marriott is close to the research
    resources of the University of Utah and the Mormon Family History Library, as well as museums,
    theatres, nightlife, and opportunities for hiking and golf.

    Shuttle service from the airport to the hotel is available for $12 (one way). Details will be provided in
    your registration packet. For information on parking, rental cars, and other ground transportation,

    UPDATE: Due to the tremendous response to our conference, rooms at the University Park Marriott are
    sold out as of late February. The official overflow space is the University Guest House, which housed
    athletes during the 2002 winter games. Rates here are reasonable, and the walk to the University Park
    hotel is about a mile through historical Fort Douglas. We are arranging for a campus shuttle to run
    between the Guest House and the University Park Marriott every 15 minutes during peak times, and
    upon request at other times. There is no hotel shuttle from the airport, although one of the more generic
    airport shuttles will do it. Also, while continental breakfast is included, please note that there is no
    restaurant, room service, or alcohol except in your room.

If you prefer to stay downtown, closer to restaurants and shopping (and about a 3-mile trip from the
University Park), your options include two other Marriotts:

MARRIOTT CITY CENTER, 220 S. State, (801) 961-8700. This is the newest of the hotels, built for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

MARRIOTT DOWNTOWN, 75 S West Temple, (801) 531-0800. This hotel is less than a block from Temple Square and the genealogical library. It also shares a roof with a huge mall if you want to shop.

    From the airport, hotel shuttles to the downtown Marriotts will be provided ($12 each way, same as the
    University Park Marriott). From the downtown hotels, you can reach the conference hotel by cab (less
    than $10 each way), city bus, or light rail (Trax). We can provide free public transportation passes or
    tokens to help you with transport to and from the University Park meetings. Check at the hotel concierge
    or conference registration desk when you arrive at University Park. More information about public

    We now have details on the optional Friday morning tours and Sunday afternoon theatre so that
    you can make your hotel and travel arrangements appropriately. Sign-up sheets will be sent in
    your registration packets.

    The Salt Lake City International Airport offers many flights daily via a variety of major commercial
    airlines. The University Park Marriott is located 12 miles east of the airport. From the airport, take
    I-80 East. Take the 600 South exit heading east. Turn left at 700 East, turn right at 400 South, and
    continue past the University of Utah. Turn left on Wakara Way and proceed 1/4 mile. The hotel will
