Thanks
to our participants for making the conference such a great success!
The Historical Novel Society's second
North American conference was held at the
Desmond
Hotel and Conference Center in
Albany, New York. Running from the evening of Friday, June 8,
2007, through the morning of Sunday, June 10, this
weekend-long
conference featured workshops, panels and keynote addresses on
various aspects of fiction set in the past, and presented authors,
readers, industry professionals and other historical fiction enthusiasts
with a unique opportunity to celebrate the genre.
Our author guests of
honor were
Bernard Cornwell, bestselling author of
the Sharpe series, and
Diana Gabaldon, bestselling author of
the Outlander series.

complete conference program
online.
Registration fees included entrance to all
daytime panels and workshops, the Friday night dinner (with Bernard
Cornwell as after-dinner speaker), Saturday buffet lunch (with
Irene Goodman as keynote), and
Saturday and Sunday continental breakfast. The fees also included a
meeting with an agent or editor, if
desired. The optional Saturday
evening banquet (additional charge), new for 2007, included an
after-dinner talk from Diana Gabaldon, followed by a historical talent
revue. We also offered an optional
Friday aqua duck tour of historic Albany.
