Discussion Lists

Discussion lists are where you can 'meet' fellow enthusiasts of historical fiction and discuss books and writing online. They are also a great resource of information: if you have a specific question regarding a topic or author, you have access here to experts and enthusiasts around the globe.*

Reading and contributing to these lists can usually be done either via a web-site or by using email. All groups are free of charge.

*The HNS takes no responsibility for any unsuitable material found on any of these sites - even the one under our own name, which is unmoderated.

The biggest and oldest group for historical fiction can be found at:

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=rec.arts.books.hist-fiction - founded by Soon Choi, who also maintains an excellent web-site devoted to historical fiction - http://uts.cc.utexas.edu/~soon/histfiction/

The HNS has its own unmoderated and open-to-all list at Yahoo.com - read the archives at the website http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HistoricalNovelSociety/

or join directly by sending a blank email to: HistoricalNovelSociety-subscribe@egroups.com

The Historical Mystery Appreciation Society has a reading club list at - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HMAS_Reading_Group/

and an excellent web-site devoted to historical mysteries - http://mywebpages.comcast.net/monkshould/hmas-index.html

Another excellent discussion list (and site) can be found at: http://www.triviumpublishing.com/

There is a good reading club on Bernard Cornwell's official site: http://www.bernardcornwell.net/index.cfm?page=5
