Jean Fullerton

Jean Fullerton won the Harry Bowling Prize with her debut novel No Cure for Love. The sequel A Glimpse of Happiness, also set in Victorian London, is published by Orion later in August 2010.

James Gill

James Gill works for United Agents. He represents many new historical novelists including  Mark Keating, Robert Low, Harry Sidebottom, Tony Pollard, James Forrester, Jonathan Barnes, Stewart Binns and Seth Hunter.

Hilary Green

Hilary Green won one of the HNS's first writing prizes, and has gone on to have six novels published by Hodder.

Jerome de Groot

Jerome de Groot wrote a critical study of our genre in 2010 - The Historical Novel. He teaches a course on the genre at Manchester University, and occasionally blogs for the Guardian.

Elizabeth Hawksley

Elizabeth Hawksley writes ‘historical adventures with a dollop of romance’, eleven of which have been published. She is also an accomplished teacher of creative writing. In 2004 she ran two workshops for us, and they were so popular we’ve invited her back.

Douglas Jackson

Douglas Jackson writes the stories following animal trainer Rufus and his elephant through the imperial court of Rome. Until 2009 he was a full-time journalist, latterly the Assistant Editor of The Scotsman.

Ben Kane

Ben Kane writes the Forgotten Legion Chronicles, following three non-Roman characters attached to the army of Crassus. In his spare time he is a vet.

Robert Low

Robert Low writes the Oathsworn series of Viking novels, and is working on a new trilogy on the Scottish Wars of Robert Bruce and William Wallace. He is a freelance journalist and re-enactor.

Marcy Posner

Marcy Posner spent 15 years as a publisher, and the last 20 as a literary agent. She joined Folio Literary Management in 2010 and is specifically looking for new clients in historical fiction.

Orna Ross

Orna Ross has written two best-selling novels, published by Penguin. She teaches creative intelligence to writers and artists but most often to general audiences.

Manda Scott

Manda Scott is best-selling author of the Boudica: Dreaming series. Her latest book examines the early decades of Christianity.

Mary Sharratt

Mary Sharratt’s latest novel, Daughters of the Witching Hill, is a first person narrative tracing the life of Demdike, one of the Pendle Witches. A former Historical Novel Society Review editor, Mary writes regular feature articles and author profiles for Solander and The Historical Novels Review.

Harry Sidebottom

Harry Sidebottom writes epic soldier novels of the Late Roman Empire. He is a history lecturer at Oxford University, and reviews historical fiction for the Times Literary Supplement.

Ann Turnbull

Ann Turnbull has written more than thirty books for children and young people of all ages. No Shame, No Fear was shortlisted for both the Guardian and the Whitbread awards, the first of a trilogy of novels about Quakers in the 17th Century. Her latest book, a Civil War story, is Alice in Love and War.

Selina Walker

Selina Walker is Editorial Director at Transworld, responsible for Crime and Thrillers. Her authors include Manda Scott and Lesley Downer.
